about

Margaret's first CD, a beautiful solo guitar recording featuring twelve of Margaret's original jazz/classical pieces for nylon-string and electric guitar, plus her interpretations of a jazz ballad by Miles Davis & Bill Evans, "Blue in Green" and a bossa nova by Luis Bonfa, "Manha de Carnaval." Margaret is also a painter; she often creates paintings in conjunction with the composition of her music. Some of her corresponding paintings appear in the digipak and inserts of this CD.

A statement from Margaret about her music/art creative process:

"I create paintings which reflect my musical compositions; each painting is created in conjunction with the writing of a piece of music. At a certain point, I realized that when I composed music, I was seeing shapes and colors and images, and when I was painting, I was hearing music. Thus, I began to merge the two art forms into one process, going back and forth between the guitar and the easel, allowing each medium to feed and inspire the other. I compose and paint very intuitively; I still think about the theory and form and other compositional concerns, but I feel that I create most truly when I let go of my conscious thoughts and just let things form naturally. My musical compositions and paintings are also like a diary; each piece is about an event, person or place that has had an intense effect on my life and has touched me in some way. The best compliment for me is when someone feels the emotions I am expressing and is touched or affected by them."
